Warrensburgh Community Garden

If you are interested in having a raised bed plot in the Warrensburgh Community Garden this year, now is the time to apply. The garden, which in years past has been located on the grounds of the Miles Thomas House/ Senior Center at 3847 Main Street, will be in a new location this year due to the impending sale of the Senior Center. The new location of the community garden will be on land that is currently being developed into a new town park known as Papermill Park on Route 418 which is only 5 minutes from the former location of the garden.

If you intend on having a plot this year please do not plant any crops in the beds at the Senior Center. In the near future town employees will be doing site work at the new park, including moving our existing raised beds from the former garden to Papermill Park . We anticipate this move will be complete by mid to late May, but will keep you updated as the time approaches so that you'll know when the beds will be ready for planting.

To reach Papermill Park from the intersection of Rte. 9 ( Main St. ) and Rte. 418 by Hudson Headwaters Health Center , travel approximately 2 miles on Rte. 418. The park, which is not developed yet, will be on the right side of the road, just past the hydro dam. More instructions about parking will be included in a subsequent email.

Over thirty raised beds will be available for adoption by individuals, youth groups, civic organizations and businesses who would like to grow their own fresh produce for themselves or others. On site composting is available for those who wish to recycle nutrients. Free soil testing and beginners' workshops will be offered on an as needed basis.

Attached is the membership application. If you can not open the document please contact Bob Bradley. This needs to be completed whether you are a returning gardener or applying for the first time.

Please fill out and return by regular mail to: Warrensburgh Beautification Inc., PO Box 312 , Warrensburgh , NY 12885 . You can enclose a $10 check for the application fee, or make other payment arrangements with Bob. If you would like more than one bed please make note of this on the application. There is no extra charge for additional beds.
